According to most web pages, hemorrhoids, inflammed veins in rectum,
are caused by increased blood pressure from sitting or standing,
straining, constipation, obesity, pregnancy, etc. Even my GI says the
same. However this does not match my experience. In my case,
hemorrhoids are strongly related to dairy, meat and peanut consumption
regardless of other factors like exercise, sitting/standing, fiber
intake, fluid intake, etc. Each time I remove them from my diet,
rhoids subside. Each time I add them to my diet, they reappear. I have
observed this pattern repeatedly over several years. Have others
noticed a similar pattern?
I do have a lot of "allergic reactions" to many common foods. Some of
my worst rhoids have been from homemade kefir, yogurt and store bought
riccota cheese. In the past, if I were to eat a large serving one day
while one a veggie/fruit diet, the rhoids would show up several days
later and take a week or so to subside.
Recenlty, I had been including a tiny portion of meat each day and
after two weeks, I could sense some soreness. Then one night, I
ordered butter milk pancakes at IHOP. Boy did I enjoy the carbo load
along with a slice of butter and all four flavors (traditional, butter
pecan, strawberry and blueberry) of syrups. The next morning I paid
with bleeding rhoids :(
